An electricity workers’ union has threatened nationwide action over an alleged confrontation in Bauchi State. As of 9:02 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, Kosofe Inside Out had found no announcement that the threatened strike had begun.
The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) gave authorities an ultimatum running from September 21 to 23. It said electricity operations could be disrupted nationwide if its concerns were not addressed.
The union alleges that Nigerian Air Force personnel assaulted, arrested and humiliated 10 workers at the Jos Electricity Distribution office in Bauchi. It says the confrontation followed the disconnection of supply to Air Force quarters over unpaid bills. Those allegations have not been independently established, and a detailed Air Force response was not available for this report.
If nationwide action begins, it could affect electricity operations serving Kosofe. No outage or service disruption in Kosofe had been linked to this dispute as of the stated publication time. Residents should not assume that an existing neighbourhood outage means a strike has started.
Kosofe Inside Out will update this report when the union, Ikeja Electric or relevant authorities confirm what happens after the deadline.
