Residents of Agboyi-Ketu Waterside and Agiliti have called for food, building materials and essential household items after flooding affected homes and access routes in the Kosofe communities.
The needs were raised during an assessment by the National Emergency Management Agency’s Lagos Operations Office on Tuesday, 13 October. The team met affected residents, community representatives and local stakeholders to document the damage and identify urgent humanitarian needs.
According to NEMA’s account, the flooding has affected residential buildings, movement within the communities and residents’ living conditions. The assessment also examined the difficulties facing vulnerable households.
For affected families, the requests reflect immediate concerns: securing food, repairing damaged homes and replacing household necessities.
NEMA said the findings would guide its response. However, the statement did not announce a relief distribution date, specify how many households were affected or give a breakdown of the damage. It also did not identify the cause of this particular flooding.
The communities have featured in earlier flood interventions. In February 2025, NEMA announced relief distribution covering Agboyi I–III, Agiliti II, Odo-Ogun and Itowolo in Kosofe and Ikorodu.
The latest assessment documents another need for support. The next information residents need is when assistance will arrive, which households will qualify and how they can access it.
