The OmoAdugbo Progressive Movement hosted a gathering in honour of Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the APC candidate for the House of Representatives seat for Kosofe Federal Constituency, at Olatunji-Ige Street, Ikosi-Ketu, on Monday, October 19, at 5:00 p.m.
Oshinowo was unable to attend following a change in his itinerary. He tendered an unreserved apology and sent representatives, including Comrade Waheed Odunuga and Hon. Christian, a former Education Secretary of Agboyi-Ketu, among others.
Speaking at the gathering, the movement’s coordinator, Mr Olawale Ibrahim, popularly known as Al-Buruuj, expressed the group’s appreciation to Oshinowo for sending a delegation, noting that the engagement gave members a sense of belonging.
He also raised concerns over alleged threats against some members of the community group.
Ibrahim alleged that individuals he described as political miscreants, believed to be close to the political camp of the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA chairman, were threatening members to discourage them from attending the movement’s meetings.
He stressed that OmoAdugbo, which he said had existed for more than 30 years, should not be portrayed as a political group or caucus funded by a politician or political rival.
Ibrahim reiterated the movement’s support for good governance and community development, which members believe to be shared objectives of the council chairman, Princess Samiat Bada.
Despite the alleged intimidation and a reported decline in attendance at previous meetings, members turned out in large numbers for the gathering, demonstrating their continued support for
the movement.
