Omisore Joins Accord: Will Ogbara Exit Kosofe APC Next?

The Kosofe chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing rising tension following the party’s House of Representatives primary in May 2026. Mayor Dele Oshinowo, former Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman, was declared winner over incumbent Rep. Kafilat Ogbara. Ogbara has consistently rejected the result, insisting that only the National Secretariat in Abuja holds final authority — meaning the Lagos chapter cannot declare a final winner without Abuja’s sign-off.

The dispute has taken on new weight after Senator Iyiola Omisore’s exit from the ruling APC. The former APC National Secretary moved his political machinery to the Accord Party following his disqualification from the Osun governorship race in June 2026. Accord is a smaller opposition party that gained new attention in Osun after Omisore joined.

For years, party members in Kosofe have pointed to a strong alliance between Ogbara and Omisore. Omisore used his influence in the party's top ranks to shield Ogbara from challenges within Lagos APC. With Omisore now out of the APC, Ogbara has lost her strongest backroom broker.

The political rumor mill is spinning fast in Kosofe. Some APC stakeholders in the constituency, who asked not to be named, say Ogbara will not go down without a fight. They fear her camp could pursue legal challenges that may split the local chapter and destabilise party activities. If those efforts fail, there is growing speculation she could exit the APC and join Omisore under the Accord Party banner to contest against the APC candidate, Oshinowo.

Official representatives for Ogbara continue to dismiss these rumors, pointing to recent public demonstrations of party loyalty by her supporters at ward meetings in Ketu, Ojota, and Agboyi. Nevertheless, the political atmosphere in Kosofe remains tense and uncertain.

The question now dominating discussions in Kosofe: will Ogbara stay to fight within the APC structure, or will she follow Omisore into Accord, considering the recent developments at INEC, where the electoral commission published the Lagos APC’s list on its website as the official candidates list for the forthcoming 2027 general elections? As the election cycle nears, Kosofe residents are watching closely to see how this dispute shapes local representation.
